Introduction to HTML 5

Good stuff:

Introduction to HTML 5

Are you interested in HTML 5 and what’s coming down the pipeline but haven’t had time to read any articles yet? I’ve put put together an educational Introduction to HTML 5 video that goes over many of the major aspects of the new standard, including:

  • Web vector graphics with the Canvas tag and Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG)
  • The Geolocation API
  • HTML 5 Video
  • The HTML 5 Database and Application Cache
  • Web workers

In the video I also crack open the HTML 5 YouTube Video prototype to show you some of the new HTML 5 tags, such as nav, article, etc. It’s chock full of demos and sample source code.

DCI is the future of MVC

Check out this excellent talk on DCI from the chief architect of NetBean. What is DCI you asking? Well, It is Data/Context/Interactions – a modernized version of MVC. It was originally described at artima article. However,  I find it interesting to learn and use it in your next project.

jQuery 1.3.3 (almost 1.4) – main improvments

These guys are just doing it RIGHT…

Here is a short (relatively) presentation that give you the highlights from the jQuery Conf. that took place in Boston last weekend.

I personally like the new separation that we now see in the core.js and of course the new selector engine (Sizzle). As we all know – faster === happy users.

As for more generic topic of Java Script Testing – here is a very good intro:

I’m strong believer in test driven development and the option to do it with better methodology and tools is most welcome.

KISS (=Keep it simple stupid)

Why less is more? and why you want to keep it simple… a very good (and long) presentation on ‘simple’ design and why it is so important.

The Chief CTO (Mr. Chopra) And What He Think

He is America’s first ever appointed CTO, Aneesh Paul Chopra.

What the ‘chief’ CTO of the USA has to say on this role, focus and life:

Few points I’ve took:

  • “… If Google, Microsoft and other can use the cloud – why the government can NOT do so?”
  • “…I’ve try to search information in our government site… I could find nothing. Then Google came with their enterprise search solutions…”

It would be interesting to see how much gov2.0 he could push forward and open.
